Finding a property
- You can rent from council housing and housing associations.
- Each council has its set of eligibility criteria which applicants should meet. To avoid disappointment, applicants should check his/her local council’s housing policy to see if they meet the criteria and then register.
- Applicants could choose the bidding system called ‘choice-based lettings or be part of the council waiting list application process. Either way, the applicant needs to bid for homes that he/she is eligible to apply for. The council will allocate housing to those with the highest needs in both schemes. It is called ‘priority need’ Those first with the highest priority, and then the council will investigate those with lower priorities when the higher priority applicant’s needs are met.
