NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION

  • How many times do we hear these magical words? People’s ideas of New Year’s resolutions are either losing weight, quitting smoking, or stopping drinking. While these resolutions are popular and sometimes lifesaving actions, tenants can also have a special resolution of their own. We should not forget that the number of homeless is getting higher and higher due to the fact that some of us are finding it difficult to pay the rent. Why can’t we create a resolution to allow each of us tenants to have less stress when it comes to the time to pay our rent each month.

    What you can do:

    • Maybe start a new resolution to save to facilitate the payment of your monthly rent.
    • You can pay a bit more towards your monthly rent. Before choosing to do this, you should inform your landlord so that he doesn’t think that you are adding a tip for his good nature.
    • You can also save money in a different account to avoid the temptation to use it for other purposes. Saving as little as £5 a week can go a long way.
    • You can give some money to a close and trusted relative on a monthly basis (your mother or father). They are likely to save it for you knowing that you are trying hard to think ahead.
    • Regardless of what the amount is, you should keep the habit to do so regularly and persevere. You should not be distracted from your course to achieve you goal.
    • You can also downsize your accommodation which in return will leave you with more cash towards your rent and hopefully reduce your stress levels.
    • You can also decide to share your accommodation just for a short period of time to get you back on your feet. Do not be anxious about what people think. It’s your life and your decision.
    • A New Year’s resolution can be anything, but for tenants looking for strategies to reduce their stress at the end of each month it should be a priority.
